Cap of Rs.20,000 done away
Monthly stipend increased from Rs.1,500 to Rs.2,500 for local candidates
For outstation candidates, it is from Rs.3,000 to Rs.5,000 pm.
Disabled students will get Rs.2,000 special allowance.

The Central Government has decided to bear the entire expenditure incurred by SC, BC class students on coaching for competitive examinations under the revised Scheme of Free Coaching for SC and OBC Students.

The Centre has done away with the cap of Rs.20,000. The central sector scheme of Free Coaching for SC and OBC students has been revised to enable them to appear in competitive examinations and succeed in obtaining appropriate job in public and private sector.



According to revised provisions, Centre would ask the States and Union Territories to furnish proposals of at least and not more than 10 caching institutes with proven track record of success. It will for empanelment of coaching institutions and will be considered by a Selection Committee.

The monthly stipend of the aspirants has been increased from Rs.1,500 to Rs.2,500 for local students and Rs.3,000 to Rs.5,000 for outstation students. Students with disabilities would be eligible for a special allowance of Rs.2,000 per month towards reader allowance, escort allowance, helper allowance etc., The grant-in-aid along with stipend will be released directly to the coaching institutes.

The income ceiling for getting the benefit is put to Rs.6 lakh or less per annum.

The courses for which coaching is offered include Group A and B examinations held by UPSC, Staff Selection Commission, Railway Recruitment Boards, Officers grade examinations of Banks, Insurance and Public Sector undertakings. Coaching for entrance examinations in IIT-JEE and AIEEE, AIPMT, CAT and Law (CALT) along with eligibility tests like SAT, GRE, GMAT and TOEFL.
