The operations of the long-delayed Hyderabad Metro Rail project will begin on the auspicious Diwali this year.

L&T conveyed to Telangana Government that works of Nagole-Mettuguda (8-km stretch) and Miyapur-SR Nagar (12 stretch) have been completed and sought approval to kickstart the operations. Chief Minister KCR has given his consent to launch the operations in October this year.

Railway Safety Certification is yet to be issued for the Miyapur-SR Nagar stretch. L&T is confident of obtaining all the necessary clearances before the October launch.

Sources say, The certification is just a formality and it would be issued soon after the Inspection. So, Operations of Hyderabad Metro Rail will start from Diwali 2016.
