The Central Board of Excise & Customs (CBEC) slapped Service Tax notices against Bollywood A-listers Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh and leading production house Yashraj Films.

CBEC sought details of their Remunerations and Service Tax payment from these B-Town Stars. Reports say, These Actors & Yashraj Films have been included in the defaulters list by the Service Tax department. The issue is related to the Service Tax of Bollywood blockbusters PK, Dhoom 3, Ek Tha Tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Bajirao Mastani and Sultan.

Few more Celebrities were under the scanner of CBFC and they might end up receiving notices at any time soon.

Confusion on whether the Transaction between Actors or Production Houses attract Service Tax or VAT or Both continues. As per now, Actors who get paid in tranches have to pay service tax.
