US Defence Secretary Ash Carter has announced the lifting of ban on Transgender troops. People from transgender community were seen celebrating on the streets of Washington. Initially there were some serious concerns pertaining to the ban. However the land of opportunities "America" has opened yet another door proving its diversity.

In a year's time transgender people will be allowed to enlist themselves if they meet the required standards. It is also mandatory for them to be stable from last 18 months.Thousands of US troops would have been removed from the military, had the ban didn't get lifted.

Mr Carter, replying to a reporter said,"It is our duty to pick the best people who can protect the country and all barriers formed in the selection process shall be removed". In 2011 the ban on gay and lesbian serving military people have been removed. Much to the applause, the ban on transgenders also has been removed, though the process was slow.

Critics have argued that Mr Carter is putting the agenda of Obama administration ahead of combat readiness.
