By accepting a petition lodged by "Lingaa" movie distributor, Chennai High Court ordered Rajnikanth and producer Kalaipuli S Thanu to respond. The petitioner sought to stop the release of "Kabali" until his dues are settled.
Actually this petitioner mentioned to Hon'ble court that regarding the flop show of "Lingaa" at box office, hero Rajnikanth promised him to pay back 89 lakhs rupees for the losses incurred. For that reason, he has now petitioned to stop Kabali release until Rajni gives him back his money. Court has asked both Rajni and Kabali producer Thanu to counter file their explanation.
These petitions to stop release before the actual release date have become quite common these days in Tamilnadu.
