Indian-Origin Man defeats Sania Mirza | andhra news daily

The hopes of Indians on Tennis Mixed Doubles at Rio Olympics crashed after Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna were defeated in the Semi Finals by US duo Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram.

Sania & Bopanna won the first set comfortably with 6-2. After the Indian duo lost the second set 2-6, Third Set become a decider. The Indian Pair couldn't get back the momentum and ended up losing the final set by a margin of 3-10. The match lasted for 77 minutes.

After the defeat in Semis, Sania & Bopanna will play against Czech Republic's Lucie Hradecka and Radek Stepanek for the Bronze medal.



Rajeev Ram is a first generation American of Indian origin. His Parents shifted base to US from Bangalore before his birth in 1984. After his victory, Mr. Rajeev commented, 'I will be the most hated person in India Today'.
