Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa sent a letter to his AP Counterpart Chandrababu Naidu raising objection to the increase of height of the check dam built across the Palar river from 5 feet to 12 feet. She stressed that Tamil Nadu Government have serious concerns over the move of AP Irrigation Department.

Jayalalithaa states Palar river is the source of irrigation for 4.20 lakh acres in Tamil Nadu. She further adds, This river is also the source of drinking water for few Tamil Nadu Districts. Even the same water was used for Atomic Power Station at Kalapakkam.

Tamil Nadu CM warns AP Government that increasing of the check dam height comes under violation of Madras-Mysore Agreement made in 1892. She even recalls moving Supreme Court against AP's move on February 10th, 2016.

The check dam is located at Perumballam village across inter-state Palar river in Chittoor District.
